Sun & Moon: the daily binary logic puzzle

A calm logic puzzle also known as Takuzu, Binairo or binary puzzle. Three sizes, one solution each.

In short

Fill every cell with a sun or a moon. Each row and column holds the same number of each, no more than two of the same symbol may sit next to each other, and no two rows or columns are identical. New 6×6, 8×8 and 10×10 puzzles every day, each with one solution.

How to play Sun & Moon

  1. Fill every empty cell with a sun (☀) or a moon (☾).
  2. Every row and every column contains the same number of suns and moons.
  3. No more than two identical symbols may be next to each other in a row or column.
  4. No two rows are the same, and no two columns are the same.
  5. Tap a cell to cycle sun → moon → empty. Right-click cycles the other way. Pre-filled cells cannot be changed.
  6. Choose easy (6×6), medium (8×8) or hard (10×10).

Tips and strategy

  • Two identical symbols side by side? The cells on both ends must be the opposite symbol.
  • A gap between two identical symbols, like ☀ _ ☀, must be filled with the opposite symbol.
  • Count: once a line has half of its cells as suns, the rest of that line are moons.
  • When a line is almost full, compare it with completed lines — it must not become a copy of one.
  • Red highlights show broken rules straight away, so mistakes are easy to spot.

Frequently asked questions

Is there only one solution?

Yes. Every daily grid is checked when it is generated and has exactly one valid solution, so it can always be solved by logic.

What is the difference between the levels?

Easy is a 6×6 grid with extra given cells, medium is 8×8 and hard is 10×10 with as few givens as possible.

Is this the same as Takuzu or Binairo?

Yes, it uses the same rules. Some versions use 0 and 1 or two colours; here the two symbols are a sun and a moon.

Why do some cells turn red?

Red marks three identical symbols in a row, too many of one symbol in a line, or two complete lines that are identical.

Can I use the right mouse button?

Yes. Left click or tap cycles sun → moon → empty, right click cycles moon → sun → empty.
